Why AIAIAI

AI is changing how everyone works, but most people outside the tech bubble haven't found a way to use it yet. AIAIAI helps everyday employees use AI in a way that feels natural to them, without asking them to change how they work. Our users are late adopters, so the product has to just work.

We're a small, experienced team that has built and scaled SaaS products before. Engineers here own features from start to finish, and AI does a lot of the typing.

The role

You'll own our mobile app and help build our web platform. You'll take a feature from a rough idea to the app stores, and make small backend changes when a feature needs them.

We don't want someone who just uses AI to autocomplete. We want a conductor who ships in a day what used to take a week.

Our stack: React Native (Expo, Expo Router, NativeWind, Reanimated, TanStack Query), SvelteKit + Tailwind, TypeScript throughout, Python and Go services, Postgres, OpenAPI-generated clients, Sentry, LiveKit and ElevenLabs for voice.

What we're looking for

Must-haves

  • 3+ years shipping production TypeScript and React. Fewer is fine if you have a master's in computer science or a related field.

  • At least one React Native app shipped to both app stores, ideally with Expo.

  • Strong with server state (TanStack Query), offline caching, and typed API clients.

  • Comfortable with Tailwind-style styling.

  • Able to work in SvelteKit within weeks, coming from any modern web framework.

  • Can make small backend changes in Python or Go, and knows Postgres.

  • Builds for real conditions: cheap Android phones, slow networks, proper loading and error states.

Nice-to-haves

  • Real-time features: voice, WebRTC/LiveKit, or streaming responses.

  • Experience with the messy parts of mobile: EAS builds, over-the-air updates, push notifications, deep links, store reviews.

  • Translations (Lingui or similar), shared design systems, debugging from Sentry data.

How you work with AI

  • You run several AI agents in parallel and spend your time reviewing, not typing.

  • You break features into well-scoped briefs an agent can finish on its own.

  • You catch AI mistakes: made-up APIs, quiet regressions, code that looks right but isn't.

  • You make agents prove their work with tests instead of trusting them.

  • You've built your own setup: custom instructions, project memory, MCP tools, or reusable skills.

  • You know which model to use for which job, and when to write it by hand.

  • You've built AI features for end users (streaming, voice, tool calling) and care how non-tech people experience them.

How you work with people

  • You work with design and product to sharpen a vague ticket, and spot improvements as you build.

  • You ship small and often, and throw away your own code without ego.

  • You finish the boring last 10%.

  • You explain your work clearly to non-engineers.

Missing a few items on the stack list? Apply anyway. How you think and ship matters more than any one framework.

What we offer

  • Ownership: your work ships to real users within days, not quarters.

  • AI tools on us: we pay for your Claude, Codex and Grok subscriptions.

  • Hybrid: at least 1 day a week in our office on the canals of Amsterdam.

  • Salary: €50,000–€60,000 all-in, depending on experience.

  • Visa: we can't offer sponsorship at this time.

How to apply

Apply with your CV. Optionally, add a link to an app you've shipped and tell us about one feature you shipped much faster with AI agents, and what you had to fix along the way.

Interview stages

  1. Intro (30 min, online): get to know each other.

  2. System design (60 min, online): design a feature with us, from the app down to the API.

  3. Peer coding (60 min, in our office): build something together with your usual AI tools. We watch how you brief, check and throw away bad output, not just the final code.
